I have most of my investments into dividends but have some spare to play with.

Hi Joe,
Here are some of our newsletters that may help you out.
This newsletter introduces several complementary indicators on the DJIA. This should give you a general introduction towards some potential indicators.
Technical indicators and the DJIA &
Showing the end of the DJIA uptrend
The following newsletter introduces a basic swing trading system used for index's and giant caps.
A look back on the DJIA followed by
Adding a complementary indicator (MACD) to a Stochastics system
Finally including this final article which includes different parameters to help ensure the short and medium term trends are in your favor.
Changing your parameters to fit the trend you are trading
As always you should paper trade your system before you commit. You should also build a checklist of buy and sell conditions in conjunction with your trading system. Part of building a system like this is to ensure confidence and reason to your decisions and remove emotions. For example if you are trading a fertilizer company you may look at grain futures as part of your technical analysis checklist.
These newsletters will help you define a technical analysis checklist,
Developing a Systematic Approach &
How does technical analysis fit in your trading system
I hope this helps.
